In fact, Swiss-American’s technical expertise and customer centric approach was critical in creating the EltaMD franchise, which was acquired by Colgate-Palmolive in January 2018. The divestiture enabled the company to focus solely on core contract development and manufacturing.
The company’s approach to development and manufacturing embraces emerging trends, leading to novel and more effective product solutions for the clients it serves. Swiss-American has the expertise, infrastructure and equipment to develop and manufacture formulations for prescription, OTC, medical devices and personal care products. With three decades of expertise, Swiss-American is able to develop healthcare products for use throughout the world that ensure clients smoothly navigate regulatory approvals and address patent/intellectual property issues early on.
Swiss-American addresses two of the most critical issues in manufacturing and product development: Cost management and productivity. The company provides high-quality, cost-effective solutions for its clients through its in-house technology development, streamlined material procurement, automated/agile/digital manufacturing techniques and efficient supply chain management.
“We offer definitive industry insights and proven solutions without resorting to shortcuts–our clients have customers who entrust us with the quality and consistency of their products. As a result, we have never lost a client,” says Ede Payne, chief operating officer at Swiss- American.
In the 2018 beauty award season, Swiss-American yielded five award-winning product formulations for their personal care clients. These formulations were strengthened by product safety and clinical development recommendations from the highly knowledgeable Swiss- American staff, saving the client time and resources while reducing costs associated with securing approvals for product claims. Swiss-American’s strategic approach provided a competitive, sustainable advantage for a client who now refers to the company’s manufacturing and development as the industry standard for third-party manufacturers.
In another collaboration, a client needed a “spray version” of a product that would act as a film-forming agent on the skin with specific requirements for flexibility, longevity and patient comfort. Considering these prerequisites, Swiss-American’s research, innovation & development group created a polymer, using a readily available solvent for the spray version. The team then implemented the spray mechanism for the product and developed the packaging per client specifications. Currently, the product is available through healthcare facilities around the world.
These innovative strides and collaborations have propelled Swiss- American on a double-digit growth trajectory since 2012. The Swiss- American executive leadership team believes their success stems from the unmatched value they provide to clients with a customer centric approach that builds trust through communication, industry expertise and a diligent commitment to each client’s needs.
