A finishing facility located in the Pittsburgh area is able to provide high precision titanium bar and wire particular to the medical device manufacturing industry.

Spurred by its success, VSMPO-AVISMA is planning to install a plasma arc melting furnace that will offer the company the flexibility to produce newer and complex alloys and give them a lower cost melting capability. Meanwhile, the company is also aiming to invest further in its downstream processing capabilities, which will include installing finishing and rolling mills both in Russia and the US. The company is investigating expanding its competencies as it pertains to high precision medical titanium bar and wire. “Our longer term vision has us producing a new range of high precision products that will allow us to fully participate in the spinal and dental markets,” concludes Rocco.
