In today's highly competitive world, getting an idea for developing a new medical device is the least of a company's worries. Amidst the exorbitant costs throughout the product design, development process, and manufacturing stage of a commercial medical device, the major hurdle is overcoming the challenges of accelerated research & development timelines within rigorous regulatory environments. The device makers need to ensure compliance with the regulations relevant to their target markets. Additionally, they need to make sure that their devices go to market on time and within their budget. "With our team expertise and experience, we can bring any project to life—from concept through production." This bold statement comes from Matt Valego, VP, Sales & Marketing at RBC Medical Innovations.
Since its inception in 1994, RBC Medical Innovations—a medical device contract development and manufacturing company—has been a renowned name in the industry, perfectly poised to address the challenges faced by the medical device companies. The company specializes in manufacturing and assembling complex electromechanical medical devices. As a medical device developer and designer with an ISO certified and FDA registered Contract Manufacturing facility, RCB has been an industry leader known for its ability to significantly decrease time-to-market, reduce risk, and for its quality. "For over 25 years, RBC has helped define, design, develop, and manufacture Class I, II, and III medical devices for our clients, including early stage companies to 7 of the top 10 medical device firms in the world. Our focus is on electromechanical medical devices," explains Valego.
RBC has carved a unique niche for itself in the market with its expertise around energy delivery and energy therapy.

From Invasive/Non-Invasive Ventilator, Spinal Tumor RF Ablation System, RF Puncture Generator, to other life science diagnostics equipment, RBC has a wide-ranging portfolio of medical devices. RBC is thriving on a mission to bring innovative medical device ideas to an affordable reality, and the prowess of the company's quality products has been successfully attributed to the success of its clients.
For instance, a leading company for dermatological surgical equipment purchased a product through acquisition and wanted to increase market penetration of this product. As they began to increase production, breakdowns repeatedly occurred during the manufacturing process. Additionally, they were concerned that their existing contract manufacturer wasn't ISO 13485- 2016 Certified and were working from a paper Design History File. The company needed a contract manufacturer that was ISO 13485-2016 Certified, FDA Registered, and could execute a quick and cost-effective design transfer to their facility to meet a tight timeline and avoid backorders. RBC was able to meet both conditions—effectively and efficiently. RBC's team reviewed documentation as well as the design and updated to improve manufacturing process efficiency and product quality. The team also identified and eliminated an issue with device calibration, which would have required the client to open and re-calibrate all products before shipping.
RBC was able to transfer manufacturing from the client’s existing contract manufacturer to its facility in less than three months. RBC shipped over 400 units with zero defect issues to the company. They now have a complete digital design and manufacturing documentation package that allows them to easily access and share documents internally for maintenance, document control, and regulatory audits, saving them time and money.
Valego asserts that RBC's success is linked to its clients' successes, which is the reason for most of the company's business being repeat business. "Our team expertise, predictable results, and flexible quality management / product development systems are what differentiates us in the market. With that, we have become a "go-to" contract manufacturer and developer for medical device companies," concludes Valego.
